UAW Makes Agreement with Chrysler; GM Poised to Unveil All-Electric Car

The United Auto Workers union has finally reached a tentative contract agreement with Fiat's Chrysler unit.

The UAW also came to agreements with Ford (NYSE:F) and General Motors (NYSE:GM) in recent weeks.

Also today, the Detroit News reports that General Motors is expected to announce it will sell an all-electric, battery-powered car intended for urban markets.

The new offering will complement the extended range Chevrolet Volt.

The report noted that Ford has an all-electric version of its Focus on tap, and that Toyota (NYSE:TM) plans delivery of a plug-in Prius in the spring.

Honda (NYSE:HMC) announced late yesterday it began production of a 2012 Honda Civic powered by natural gas.
